ACCA - A New Route to Audit Specialisation in South Africa

Big news for all current and potential ACCA students - ACCA members can now become Registered Auditors in South Africa. This is following the accreditation of the ACCA Qualification by the country's Independent Regulatory Board for Auditors (IRBA).

Helen Brand, the Chief Executive of ACCA, expressed her delight by stating that the audit skills and knowledge of ACCA members have been officially acknowledged in South Africa. This recognition opens new opportunities for current and future members, empowering them to make a positive impact on South Africa's economy and society.

Jamil Ampomah, ACCA Director for Africa, eagerly anticipates contributing to diversity and innovation within South Africa's audit profession. He sees this development as a testament to the high calibre of ACCA members, and the strength of the ACCA Qualification.

Starting from 1 April 2024, ACCA members with relevant experience can register for the IRBA's 18-month Audit Development Programme to obtain Registered Auditor status.
