The Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) has announced that students will be able to write the September Examinations from home via Remote Testing. ACCA is determined to ensure its students can work and progress in their courses despite the current disruption caused by COVID-19.

Exams are to be taken online and supervised via webcam by a remote invigilator. This is possible by means of multiple security checks involving biometrics, AI and recording software. ACCA have ensured that there will be no difference in the quality standards that are usually adhered to in their standard exam process.

Before booking, it is important to make sure the laptop or computer you plan on using is compatible and passes the minimum requirements set out by the ACCA. This includes hardware regulations that prohibit the use of dual screen displays, and minimum broadband speed requirements to ensure a smooth writing process with minimal disruptions. Lastly, you will need to perform a test run of the exam invigilator software (ProctorU) to make sure that you will encounter no issues on the day.

After completing the necessary checks, you are free to book your Remote Exam session. The earliest an exam can be scheduled is seven days from the date of booking, and you are required to make full payment for your exam in order to complete the booking. After booking, all that’s left to do is ensure you are well prepared and ready for your session. On the day, find a quiet place where you will be able to write the exam undisturbed. Make sure your device is fully charged, and that you have a charger on hand. Login at least 40 minutes prior to your start time to ensure there is time to deal with any last-minute issues that may arise. Thereafter, complete the session as you would any other exam, taking time to read and answer questions properly.
